Chennai Half Marathon

After deciding to blog and creating the account it took one year for my first serious post. Too lazy....

Decided to start with something inspiring, something motivating to make sure I continue to post on this blog. The first thing which came to my mind is the recently conducted Chennai Half marathon in which I participated though only in the 7KM run leaving the 21 KM half marathon to professional runners.

The thought about participating in the marathon came on one morning in this May during beach walk at Tiruvanmiyur beach. From then onwards started slowly increasing the distance I can run at a stretch. Then one fine day saw a news in paper about Chennai Half marathon to be conducted in August. So here comes first chance for me to test myself. Eagerly started waiting for this event and atlast after a post ponement it was planned for September 27th.I decided to go for the 7 KM run as 21 KM would be too much for me initially.

The day I was eagerly waiting came. Got up from bed by 5.30 AM and got ready and reached the starting point ( War memorial on Marina Beach road, chennai). Thousands of participants from all ages are already there. By the time run started it started raining. But the spirits were so high that rain couldn't stop any body there from participating.

The route was 7 KM starting from war memorial via triplicane high road, mount road to end again at war memorial.

It took 40 min for me to complete the run non stop. Though I was completly exhausted by the end, felt very happy that I could complete it.

At the end felt more confident and got reminded of my 10 KM marathon win during my final year B.Tech 10 years ago which was my first and last athletics participation in any school/college events.

Tummala: Congrats on the marathon & blogging... I am impressed. Keep blogging.

That reminded me of our common friend (raju garu) who completed his computer science engineering, but never logged on to face book or any chat for that matter. He should be ashamed of you.
